The Torah commanded Israel to proclaim a Jubilee every 50th year (Leviticus 25): debts cancelled, land restored, slaves freed, and the land itself given rest. Yet history shows no full Jubilee ever being kept. At best there were half-hearted attempts, and at worst the commands were ignored completely. The prophets remind us that when the people failed, the land was left to “enjoy its Sabbaths” while they were cast into exile (2 Chronicles 36:21).
That’s why Paul wrote that “creation itself groans” (Romans 8:22). The earth longs for the true Jubilee that only Yah Himself can enforce. And that is exactly what the book of Revelation is telling us.
Revelation as the Jubilee Narrative
Read through Revelation not just as prophecy of wrath, but as the narrative of a cosmic Jubilee:
- Trumpets: Jubilee in Torah was announced by the blast of a shofar on the Day of Atonement. Revelation’s trumpets echo that same call — a proclamation that the old order is ending.
- Debts cancelled / bondage broken: Revelation 18 depicts the collapse of Babylon. Merchants and bankers weep because their trade and luxury vanish in an hour. That is Jubilee: false debts erased, the enslavers dethroned.
- Land restored: Revelation 21–22 shows creation renewed — no more curse, the land finally healed after millennia of exploitation.
- Inheritance returned: The saints reign with Messiah (Revelation 20:6). The meek inherit the earth (Matthew 5:5). Families restored to what was truly theirs from the beginning.
Revelation is not just the “end of the world.” It is the enforcement of the first real Jubilee.
Two Kinds of Equity
In our modern world, the word equity is everywhere. But it is used in two very different ways:
- Social equity: a popular slogan today, focusing on fairness and representation. But this often becomes a veneer — language that soothes, while the deeper injustice remains untouched.
- Financial equity: the true core of the problem. Who owns the land? Who holds the debt? Who controls credit? Look out the window in any city — nearly every building is leveraged to a bank. Real “equity” belongs not to the people but to Babylon’s financial scaffolding.
These two uses of equity are worlds apart. The first is a distraction. The second is the actual question Jubilee answers. Yah says plainly: “The land is Mine, and you are but strangers and sojourners with Me.” (Leviticus 25:23).
Conceived in Iniquity
Even insiders have admitted the nature of banking. Sir Josiah Stamp, director of the Bank of England in the 1920s, famously said:
“Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. Bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money… and with the flick of a pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. If you wish to remain slaves of the bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money and control credit.”
That line — conceived in iniquity, born in sin — is Jubilee’s counter-witness. Babylon’s banks create nothing but debt. Jubilee destroys that illusion and returns the land to Yah’s order.
The Coming Reset
The forced Jubilee of Revelation will not look like a gentle reform. To most of the world, it will look like destruction:
- No more global debt markets.
- No more banks holding equity on every house and farm.
- No more comfort in Babylon’s luxury systems.
For Yah’s people, it will be liberation. For Babylon’s merchants, it will be mourning. That is why Revelation is Jubilee: the day Yah Himself pulls the lever that no nation ever dared to pull.
Jubilee is coming. Babylon will fall. The land will rest.
