How This Calendar Is Calculated

  1. A year begins at the first new moon after the vernal equinox.
  2. A month begins at the sundown after the lunar conjunction (new moon).
  3. Evening begins when the sun is below the horizon; the day begins when no light remains in the sky.
  4. All new moons are reckoned by Jerusalem time.
